Nothing brings people together than music. Even though there are different genres, hip- hop, in particular, has grown deeper in culture now than ever before. There is nothing that resonates with the fans than good hip hop music. It just speaks to you. However, being a successful hip-hop artist in this generation is easier said than done
In today’s music scene, you need to have a fan base if you want to survive the rap game and make it to the top. Don’t expect that just because you’ve got bars, you’re automatically going to sell millions of records after releasing that first album. You need fans that support your music. People that will go to your shows and buy your merchandise as you grow.
In the music business, it’s all about selling. As much as your main job is to focus on making music, you need to make sure that you have a brand that speaks for you. Branding can be done through merchandise where you have different clothes printed with your logo or even an image of yourself.
It’s important that your brand follows a certain theme and adheres to a color scheme. The purpose of this is to create self-identity that will separate you from other up-coming artists.
The truth about being in the music industry is that you’re going to face fierce competition from other rappers. The hip-hop industry, in particular, is very competitive. You have to know that fans will always be eager to see what you have to offer, and this is why you need to make sure that you always deliver with great content.
You can go the extra mile and include a personal blog or vlog that will keep your followers hooked. This is just a marketing strategy that will enable you to offer your fans something more intimate than music.
Being an upcoming hip-hop artist can be difficult if you don’t have the energy and determination to put your name out there. Going out for open mic night can do wonders in getting people to hear about you and your rap. In any case, this is something that a majority of night clubs can allow because it helps them to attract big crowds. In addition, this will be a great chance to release your latest lyrics.
Local events may not be as crowded as you may want, but it’s better than nothing especially when you are starting out. The whole idea of being seen at local events frequently will get people talking about you and your latest songs. The more people talk about you, the closer you get to getting that big break.
Just like every other business, being a hip-hop artist is all about taking smalls steps and reaching milestones over time. This means that you need to make time to go for live shows at local joints. There are many venues that you’re going to find especially if you live in a town that comes alive in the night time.
It’s wise that you do live shows all over the town so that you get as much exposure as possible. In addition to this, you need to make sure that the venues you choose are suitable for your performance. It would be ridiculous to find yourself performing at an elderly home.
As an upcoming rapper, you should set goals for yourself. Know where you want to be in 5 years time. How do you plan on getting there? Create a plan. Remember that your fans are very important in helping you reach those goals.
As you gain fans along the way, let them know what you want from them. Be transparent with them, and they will respect you. For example, you may want them to share your mix tape with their friends on social media. Tell them that, and they’ll be glad to help you.
The rap game is not for weak people. You have to be ready to work hard to get to the top. You may have talent, but your bars are not going to take you anywhere if you don’t have fans. These are the people that are going to buy your music. Therefore, you have to know how you can connect with them. Use the above strategies, and you will be on your way to success.
